Geranium Essential Oil - Magical & Medicinal Correspondences
MATERICA MAGICA
From Essential Oil Magic by Vervain Helsdottir :
Magical intentions: Love, fertility, friendship, peace, protection, harmony, hex-breaking
Magical uses: Geranium has energy that is very similar to rose. Only, I would describe it as softer, milder, gentler, less exotic. Both are helpful for matters of love, but whereas rose may be applied to romance and passion, geranium is more appropriate for friendship, solidifying long-term relationships, and sowing peace.
Diffuse geranium to resolve disagreements as well as sow friendship between strangers.
Its positivity is so strong and cleansing that it is considered one of the primary plant allies for hex-breaking and curse prevention. It works as both a shield, like a force field of good vibes, and a solution, neutralizing malicious energy where it stands.
From StarChild.co.uk :
Geranium can be used for chakra balancing, to restore the equilibrium between male and female energies. It dispels the demons of doom and gloom and can help to overcome apprehension. It is used in dream work and astral travel. Geranium helps the mind to focus and centre at times when it is overwhelmed with pressure and the sense of 'too much on my mind'. Geranium helps switching gears so one can take a moment to appreciate and smell the flowers on the way.

How to dilute Geranium essential oil?
Choosing not to dilute essential oils is called using them “neat.” Using oils neat or at a higher-than-necessary dilution rate (over 11%) can lead to a skin reaction or sensitization, irritation and other health issues. For this reason, diluting essential oils prior to topical use is always recommended. If you’re using essential oil for body massage or creating a DIY lotion, dilute at a 2-3% ratio or 12-18 drops of essential oil in 1 oz of carrier oil. A 1% dilution is recommended for young kids, pregnant women, people with sensitivities and for bath and facial use. 1% equals 6 drops of essential oil in 1 oz of carrier oil. We find it’s best to dilute essential oils in amber glass bottles that can be easily accessed when needed.
Is Geranium essential oil antibacterial?
According to Healthline, “Geranium essential oil has antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, making it effective against multiple bacterial strains. One study found that geranium essential oil was about as effective as amoxicillin at fighting bacterial strains, such as Staphylococcus aureus.”
